We need to know your height so we can order the grad gowns for graduation ceremony. There is a measuring stick and a list of grad names outside of the main office. Please check your height with the stick and then write it beside your name.

JV boys basketball

The JV boys Basketball team lost a tough game last night to Carrefour. Sackville High was lead by Matt Burke with 10 points and Kyle MacKay with 8 points.

Girls Soccer

There is an important meeting for the Girls Soccer team. All players who ordered clothing meet in room 104 at 11:15. There is an issue with the supplier and new colours need to be chosen today.

JV boys basketball

The JV boys basketball team played their first home game last night – they defeated Sacred Heart by a score of 61-52. Sackville High was lead by Tristan Colley with 22 points, Noah Wilson with 10 points and Matt Berry with 9 points. There will be a brief team meeting today in the gym at 11:15 and everyone must attend

Tonight is the night Kingfishers!!!!!! The Rylee Sears Memorial Hockey Game will be TONIGHT at 6pm at the Sackville Arena!!! Sackville vs Millwood will face off as we raise money for the Rylee Sears Memorial Scholarship. Tonight will be an amazing night for so many reasons, we can’t wait to see you there!

Mini Olympics
Do you wanna have fun? “Yeah!” Do you wanna compete against other countries? “Yeah!” Do you wanna do it all in the comfort of your own home? “Yeah!” Well, the leadership 12 class is putting on a mini olympics on November 14 in the lobby and November 15th in the gym at lunch. Be sure to sign up in the lobby with your team of 5 and the country of your choice to represent. Its only 1.00 per person for 2 days of fun, and yes there will be a prize for the winning team. Subject Movember
So we’re doing something a little different this year for Movember. We are going to have jars in the office with a photo on each jar of a Movember participant. These jars will be for money donations, and basically, you, as the school, are going to put your money in the jar of the participant who you think is going to grow the BEST moustache, and in the end, the participant with the most money in their jar is the winner! Of course all of this money will be going to help with prostate cancer research, so it’s for a good cause. If YOU are interested in being a participant in Movember, please come to the lobby at lunch to get a picture for your jar. We will be there all lunch to take pictures, and everyone is welcome to participate. In conjunction with this, we will be introducing “Movember Mondays” where we will be having various fun activities at lunch time each Monday so stay tuned to the announcements to find out the activities of each particular Movember Monday!

Boys Volleyball
The Kingfishers had another successful weekend at the Dartmouth High Spartans tournament this past weekend. Sackville defeated Sir. John A, J.L. Isley and tournament host Dartmouth High. Provincial Champions CEC defeated the Kingfishers in the semi final and West Kings edged out Sackville to take the bronze medal. Metro Regional playoffs begin next Monday at Sackville High.

Subject Rylee Sears Memorial Hockey Game
Listen up Kingfishers! Were you at the last Millwood vs Sackville hockey game? If you were, it was probably one of the best nights of your life. If you weren’t, don’t worry! An important game is coming up. On November 30th, we will come together to honour our friend Rylee Sears through one of his favourite things, hockey. A battle between the two biggest rivals in HRM. Sackville vs Millwood!!!! We will be raising money for the Rylee Sears Memorial Scholarship. So clear your calendars, gather your change and be at the Sackville Arena on Wednesday, November 30th at 6pm.

Congratulations to our boy’s hockey team for their impressive come from behind shoot out win over MILLWOOD.–Tyler Bezanson had 2 goals and Alex Remboski had 1 in regulation time. Bezanson and rookie Mack Maloney scored in the shoot out with Zack Savary scoring the game winner!! A huge shout out to all the Kingfishers fans!! Thanks for your support!

The boy’s volleyball team had a strong showing at the West Kings tournament this past weekend. Dimitri Brown and Denver Graves provided great blocking, and offense. Trevor Gray lead the team in serving and Sean Bonvie and Marshall Owen provided good passing. The team plays it’s last league game Wednesday at Dartmouth High for 2nd place in the Metro Boys Division 1 volleyball league.

Prov Cross Country
We have a new provincial champion! Andrew Peverill captured the senior men’s 7 km race in Yarmouth yesterday finishing a very strong first. Aaron had a personal best finishing 22 out of 103 runners! Well done Kingfishers!!

Boys Volleyball
Thanks to all those who came out to support the boys volleyball team yesterday. The Kingfishers went 5 sets losing a close match with 2nd place Dartmouth High Spartans. Wednesday the rivalry continues when the 2 teams match up again at Dartmouth High!

Congratulations to the girls volleyball team on their big win yesterday against PA. They took it home after 5 intense sets. Great job girls! Player of the game goes to Emma Hill !

There will be a Dalhousie University tour for all grade 12 Aboriginal students on December 1. Please see Theresa Meuse in room 229 to sign up. There are only 12 spots open, so make sure to apply asap.

Girls Soccer
Girls Soccer finished their 10 game regular season with 7 wins, one loss and two ties. Yesterday they decisively won their round one playoff game against Sir John A, seven to one. Goals scored by Sara Dominix, Haley McKim, Taylor Parrott-Williams, Katie Snider Megan Chiasson and two from Katie Chiasson. The Girls play their round two playoff game today at 4pm at the Mainland Field against CPA.

Boys Hockey
A huge Congrats to the boys’ hockey team on their big win over CITADEL on Saturday night. It was their first league game and a great way to start the season. Goal scorers were Tyler Bezanson -3, Zack Savary-1 and Connor Wolfe -1. The team has a big home opener against PA on Weds night at 6:00.

The boys volleyball team had another successful weekend in Prince Edward Island at the Wall Of Fame Cup in Charlottetown. The boys lost the bronze medal match but competed very well! Grade 9 student Liam Graves and older brother Grade 11 student Denver Graves continue to progress well!

Costume Swap – Green Team
Have any old costumes that you would like to exchange for a new to you one? The Green team is holding a Halloween costume swap to help reduce our ecological footprints on Monday, October 24th. Bring in your old and gently used former costumes to exchange for a new one. Let’s help ensure less waste is generated this Halloween!

Boys Volleyball
Congratulations to the boys volleyball team on their win against Sir John A Wednesday evening. Grade 11 students Marshall Owen and Denver Graves both had strong matches for the Kingfishers who won in 3 straight sets 25/15, 25/16 and 25/14.

National Teen Driver Safety Week
Here’s your driver safety fact of the day: Distraction from using a hands-free device to make a call, send a text, or change the music can last up to 27 seconds. If you’re going 50 kph, that’s like driving the length of 3 football fields with your eyes closed. Put your phone away before you drive away! Come to the lobby on Friday at lunch to take a social media pledge to practice safe texting and never text and drive!

There will be a Youth Action Team meeting today at lunch in the Youth Health Centre

National Teen Driver Safety Week
Here’s your driver safety fact of the day: 16-25 year olds make up 14% of the Canadian population, but make up 33% of impairment related traffic deaths each year. Penalties for a first offence DUI include fines of up to $2000, losing your license for a year, mandatory completion of an addictions program, and retaking all driving tests. Driving under the influence is never worth it.

The boys volleyball team had a successful weekend at the Dal Classic Volleyball tournament. The Kingfishers finished in 5th place overall, 3rd best Nova Scotia team. Grade 9 students Liam Graves and Brandon Snair played very well for the Kingfishers!

National Teen Driver Safety Week
This is National Teen Driver Safety Week. Motor vehicle accidents are the number one cause of death in 16-25 year olds in Canada. Alcohol and/or drugs are a factor in over half of those crashes. The Kingfishers defeated Auburn High 3 sets to1 in Wednesday’s Division 1 boys’ volleyball action. Denver Graves was player of the game for the Kingfishers. Denver had some great blocks and played great back row defense and lead the team in kills!

The Girls Soccer team have won their last three games. 3 to 0 against JL Isley goals scored by Haley McKim and two from Kaelynn Blinn. 3 to 1 against Cole Harbour goals scored by Julia Smith, Taylor Parrott and Sophie Bagnell. 2 to 1 against Dartmouth High goals scored by Katie Chiasson and Sopie Bagnell. Solid goal keeping all three games from Emily Hatt and Kennedy Sinnott.

The boys’ volleyball team lost an exciting match yesterday in league play. Citadel High who sit in first place in the league hadn’t lost a set until yesterday’s match. Our boys played very well taking the second set 25/22 but falling short 3 sets to1. Player of the game for the Kingfishers went to Sean Bonvie. Grade 11 players Marshall Owen and Denver Graves played exceptional offensive and defensive!

Congratulations to the boys’ volleyball team for their win over the Sir John A Flames. The Kingfishers played poorly in the first set but rebounded to win the next 3 straight sets for the win. Sean Bonvie was the top passer for the match, Denver Graves led the team in kills with D’Mitri Brown providing some good blocking for the Kingfishers!

As you can see, our breakfast program is now up and running. The breakfast cart will be wheeled into the foyer every morning at 8:15.
