Cafe

Just a reminder to students and staff that the Cafeteria will be open throughout exam time this week so make sure you grab a snack and fuel up for your exams!

Locker Clean Out

Please return all locks to the main office once you have cleared your locker out.

Grad Profile

For any grads who have not completed a grad profile, this is what is read as you cross the stage, please come to the main office and fill one out.

International Students

All international students are to meet Ms. Stafford today, Tuesday, at the beginning of lunch in the student council room.

Tye Die

Today is Tie Dye Tuesday! So great to see everyone participating and the wonderful bright colors around the halls! There will be limbo and a hula hooping contest in the lobby at lunch ! And don’t forget tomorrow is Smile Day so wear Yellow!! Treats in the lobby at lunch if you participate!!

drama 12

Kingfisher Theatre invites you to the Annual Playwright’s Cabaret, Wednesday, June 14th, 6:30 pm, featuring The Arbiter. This One Act play, written by Skye Alexander, directed by Alexandria Dumont, 3 people awake in a non-descript room and must find a way out. Also featuring The Call. This One Act play, written by Alexandria Dumont, directed by Kathleen Lane, examines what happens in a family when a child is abducted.

Therapy Dogs

The therapy dogs are visiting today and there are just a few consents left in guidance. Times are available for students who have B or C block free. All students please remember to bring your consent with you when you come to the event.

Mascot Tryouts

Mascot Tryouts are this Thursday on our SHS spirit day and we couldn’t be more excited! Being the mascot, you are the light of the school in every which way and represent the spirit here at sackville high! Applications are available in the main office and must be returned to room 111 by (june ) We can’t wait

Resource Today

There will be no Resource support available in Room 228 today during 2nd and 3rd blocks as the space is being used for Therapeutic Paws.

Art Gala

The Art Club is having an Art show TOMORROW!! The show will be at the Sackville Public Library from 6:30-8:15. It is 100% free and there will be food!! Please come out and show your support for the talented artists at SHS

Football

All football players are asked to come to Mr. Vincer’s room at 11:15 today to meet with Acadia football coach Jeff Cummins. Room 110.

Drama 12 Playwright’s Cabaret

Kingfisher Theatre invites you to the Annual Playwright’s Cabaret, Wednesday, June 14th, 6:30 pm, featuring Different Routes. This One Act play, written by Heather Bird, directed by Skye Alexander, explores what happens when a difference of opinions collide with a train wreck

Therapy Dogs

Exam time can be stressful and cause increased anxiety for some students. Spending time with pets is known to reduce stress and anxiety. Therapy dogs will be visiting the school on June 13 from 11-1. All students and staff are welcome to come and spend a few minutes with the dogs in whatever way you need. Consent forms must be signed and brought with you to the event; they are available in Guidance and the Youth Health Centre.

Mascot Tryouts

SHS Is Hot To Go say H-O-T T-O-G-O! That’s right Next Thursday is our Spirit day where we’ll be having Mascot Tryouts for the 2017/2018 School year! This includes hyping up the crowd at sports games and of course trying to top our second place title at mascot showdown! If you have any interest, forms will be available soon in the main office and returned to room 111 (stay tuned this week for more information)

Spirit Week

Listen up Kingfishers! The very last Spirit Week of the year is right around the corner! Starting next Monday we have Future Plans Day (Dress in your future) Tie Dye Tuesday (wear tie dye) Smile Day on Wednesday (Wear yellow) , SHS spirit day on Thursday (you know what to do!) and Friday is Walking yearbook day where everyone will wear a plain T-shirt and go around to get it signed! Can’t wait to see everyone go all out for our final spirit week of the year! It’s gonna be a good one!

Athletic Awards Ceremony & Lunch

ALL athletes are to report to their class and will be called down for the athletic ceremony. If you are not in class you will be marked unexcused and it will not be changed. We will be calling the athletes down at 10:25.

Track & Field

Congrats to all the track athletes with their great performances this past weekend at provincials. Andrew Peverill won the 3000m race and came 2nd in the 1500. Hailey Giffin won a bronze medal in shot put. Intermediate boys 4×100 came 7th and senior boys 5th. Zoe Carvary was 5th in high jump, and 5th in Long jump Daniel Surette was 5th in hurdles and Sean Bonvie 8th in the province in javelin.

Athletic Awards Ceremony & Lunch

ALL athletes are to pick up free pass from Ms Cummings in the main office for Awards ceremony on Thursday. Free!! Awards followed by lunch. Please attend.

Grad BBQ

Seniors, listen up!!! Grad BBQ is this Thursday afternoon during C & D block! It’ll be a jam packed fun time including the annual hypnotist and choosing your grad song for the graduation ceremony! Grad songs can be a song already written reflecting on your high school experience or a song a student has written for the graduating class. Grad songs and ideas can be submitted to Mrs. Mullane in room 111! And will be chosen Thursday. See you then Grads!

BOYS Hockey & Football

Hire A Grad

Grads don’t forget that Hire a Grad is this Friday. If you are applying for scholarships from the school you must work Hire a Grad.  Please drop your permission forms off at the main office. As well your scholarship applications are due Friday, please get them to me before you do Hire a Grad as I cannot accept them on Monday.

 Afternoon of Excellence

This year’s Academic Excellence ceremony will be held during the last period today, May 10th in the Cafeteria. The list of recipients is posted outside the Main Office. Students are asked to check the list to see if they are receiving an award and if their name is spelled correctly. Also, award recipients are asked to let their parents know about the ceremony as recipient’s parents/guardians are welcome to join us for the ceremony. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Doyle in Room 303 or Mrs. Smith in Room 228. The criteria for the award are that students must have an overall average of 90% with no mark below 70%. Marks from first semester and Term 1 of second semester were used when compiling the list.

 Field Hockey

Congrats to our Field hockey team for their great tournament play this weekend! 2 wins, 2 losses and 1 tie. Thanks for coming our girls!!

Track Practice Today

Track Practice is scheduled today- Monday for MET field. Please listen for announcement on any change at end of day.

Student Council

Those students running for positions on Student Council 2017-2018 – please see Mrs. Mullane at the beginning of lunch today in room 111.

Student Council

Voting slips were delivered to teachers this morning. Students on a free are to go to room 111 to get a voting slip. Grade 10 teachers were given permission slips for their next week social. Please hand out to your Grade 10 class and students. Grade 11 will get their permission slips this afternoon.

Celebration of School Sport

Please congratulate our reps to the NSSAF Celebration of School Sport Awards luncheon today. The event recognizes student-athletes, coaches and teachers who have made significant contributions to school sport. Please congratulate Ms Caiger, Yves Dastous- girl’s soccer coach and athletes Andrew Peverill, and Kori Burrill.

Lieutenant-Governor’s Award application

The Lieutenant Governor’s Medal is awarded to two (2) students in grade 11 who have demonstrated: qualities of leadership and service in the school and community, and commendable performance in the courses in which they are enrolled. Applications are available on the school website and in student services. The deadline is May 9 at noon

Costa Rica Conservation and Volunteer trip

Students who are interested in participating in a Costa Rica Conservation and Volunteer trip in 2018 should meet in Room 311 on FRIDAY, MAY 5th at 11:15am.

Girls Rugby

Congrats to the girls Rugby team on their big win over PA 53-5. The team plays Thursday against Auburn at 4:45 Cole Harbour field.

Bake Sale

Did you know that every night, up to 16 families stay in the Halifax Ronald McDonald House? This house lets families live in an amazing place while their child is in the hospital. Tomorrow at lunch, there will be a bake sale to help raise money for this wonderful cause. So if you like brownies and cupcakes and helping families in need, then come down to the main lobby at lunch 🙂

SMU course registration

Are you going to SMU next year? Recruiters will be here Thursday, May 4th to help with your course selection and scheduling. It will take place in lab 318 during first class. Sign up in Student Services.
