Congrats to the Boys basketball team who defeated HW 66-63. LJ Williams hit a 3 point shot with less than 3 seconds on the clock. Top scorer was Josh Miller with 19 and Di Mitri Brown with 18.

CONGRATS TO ONE OF THE BEST!

Congratulations to Sackville High’s own Gillian Blaney who captured a gold medal and silver medal in the Kansas City Winter Storm International Bagpipe competition last weekend. Gillian was competing against other pipers from 50 states in the US, and pipers from Canada and the UK. Please congratulate Gillian on her major accomplishment.

The girls’ hockey team had a huge win over Dartmouth High last night winning 11 to 4. Leading the way was your team captain Amanda Roache with 5 goals and 3 assists. Amelia Fifield had her first and second goal of the year also adding an assist. Amy Hicks had 2 goals and an assist. Also scoring for your kingfishers were Hilary Lunn, Beth Hanf and Tyler Maloy. Way to go Kingfishers.

It’s almost time for the Holiday break and to get into the winter spirit we’ll be having our annual holiday spirit week with activities at lunch! Monday is Elf Day (Wear Red & Green) and participate in the Lip Sync battle at lunch! Tuesday is Grey on Grey Day (Wear all Grey) and come play some Christmas around the world games at lunch! Wednesday is Wonderful Wednesday (Dress up in your snazziest favourite formal outfit) and come hear the SHS band play a Christmas melody in the lobby! Green Team Toy Drive

Huge win for the Girls basketball Team against Auburn High. SHS 60 – Auburn 48. This is the first time SHS beat Auburn in 14 years. Top scorers were Aiyanna Empringham 25, Grace Gillis 17 and Stephie Benoit 10 points.

Our very own GSA is hosting a guest speaker on Friday as our final event for Trans Awareness Month. A trans woman will be here to talk about her journey and answer questions about living trans in Sackville. If you would like to learn more in a safe and comfortable environment please come to 202 on Friday at lunch.

You are only Eligible to attend if you have had no suspensions and no more than 4 absences/4 lates since last dance on Oct 5th as well as you must be in good academic standing. Semi-Formal dress expectations are no shorts, jeans, yoga pants, feathers, neon/glow bracelets and no shoes with heels that could mark the gym floor of any kind. Thanks Kingfishers! Laverne Cox is an African American actress and an LGBTQ advocate. She rose to prominance with her role as Sophia Burset on Orange is the New Black. She is the first openly trans person to be nominated for an EMMY Award for Acting. Our clothing swap is in room 202 at lunch today. Boys Volleyball

Congratulations to the boys’ volleyball team on their victory Friday night to capture the Regional Volleyball Championships. Strong team play led by captains Denver and Marshall helped lift the boys to a 3 straight set win over J.L. Isley 25/17, 25/17, 25/23. The Kingfishers’ will compete December 1st and 2nd at the Provincial Championships.

Grade 9 Improv

Grade 9 Improv! This Tuesday at lunch Grade 9’s are invited to join the second Improv workshop. Even if you didn’t attend last week feel free to come join in on the fun and learn how to act in this dramatic art form.

Halifax Wide Drama

The Great HRSB-Wide High School Drama Club Is starting! Start Thursday November 9 and going till May 24,at Dartmouth High School. Weekly theatre games and skills session for all registered high school students (grades 9-12) in the Halifax Regional School Board. It is FREE to all participants. Come join the high school dramatic arts community.

Grade 9 Improv Drama Workshop

Grade 9’s are invited to join a 4 week long drama workshop on Imrpov and Acting. It will start on Tuesday Nov 14 and happen every Tuesday for the following 3 weeks. The workshop is being hosted by a professional Improv instructor. It will be full of activities, games, and acting instruction. So come by the Drama Room Grade 9’s, that is Room 321, drop in and join in on the fun!

Metro Boys Volleyball Banner

The Kingfisher pulled off a huge win over Auburn last night to capture the Metro High School Boys Volleyball Banner. Auburn had currently led the league. Grade 12 captains Denver Graves and Marshall Owen had exceptional matches and led the way to what was a terrific team effort with contributions from all players! The Regional Playoffs start next week and Sackville High will be looking to capture a birth to the Provincial Championships!

Boys Volleyball

The boy’s volleyball team had a very slow start in last night’s matchup against J.L. Isley losing the first set 26/24. However, the boys turned things around and won the next three sets defeating J.L. Isley 3 sets to 1. With the win SHS are now tied for first place in the league! Keigan MacNeil and Denver Graves both had strong performances for the Kingfishers.
